Update Instructions

To install this update please follow these steps:


Procedure

  1. In the administration interface go to "System -> System Operation -> Software -> System Update" and then press "Get Package List". This will then downloads the listed update packages. The successful update of the package list is indicated by the message "Done!" .


  2. Click on Get Packages to download the available update packages.


    Important: If you download the packages over a slow connection (ISDN, analog, etc.), the browser may drop the connection to the administration interface. However, the download will continue in the background. Continue with the next step. If you get an error message, wait a few minutes and try again.


  3. Click "Install" . This action installs the update. The end of this process is indicated by the message "Done!" .


  4. A new kernel is going to be installed. The system will be


    rebooted automatically

New in Version 5.0.24

Misc: Samba 3.4

Samba has been updated to the new version 3.4. Samba 3.4 includes improvements in cooperation to Windows 7 or 2008 clients and other improvements in working as a PDC. To be able to join a samba domain with Windows 7 or 2008 R2 you will have to install a registry fix.


Collax Mail Security: GPL Anti-Virus Toolkit ClamAV

This update includes the latest stable ClamAV version 0.97.


After updating and the automatically reboot of your Collax Server you have to do a manual pattern update under Settings → Filter → Virus Scanner → ClamAV.


Collax Web Security: Squid 3.1

Squid has been updated to the new version 3.1 which allows the usage of Single-Sign-On for the webproxy via Kerberos.



Problems Fixed in Version 5.0.24

Collax Net Security: VPN Tunnel with Dyndns-Connection stops

VPN tunnels can connect several networks securely. Under circumstances using dynamic DNS can lead to unfunctional VPN tunnels. The service for updating the DynDNS name is then crashed. This update installs a new version of ez-ipupdate resolving this issue.

To be able to use Single-Sign-On you have to reactivate all settings after joining a domain.


Add-on Software: Invalid SMTP response of Collax Virus Protection

The active monitoring tests the functionality of the email filter chain via the SMTP protocol. If the Kaspersky virus scanner is activated in the filter chain a warning is responded, because the Kaspersky email scanner replies with status code 250 even it is working correctly. The e-mail traffic and the virus scanner function perfectly. Error message: "Disabled SMTP response received from host on port 10029: 250 filters KAV4LMS"
