The Collax Virtualization module enables you create and run multiple virtual computers on one piece of computer hardware. The module consists of the following components:
Virtualization hosting platform - This is the system that houses and manages all the virtual computers.
-
Virtual Computers - These are the Virtual Computers that run on the Virtualization Host Platform. They can be based on any operating system.
-
Virtual Templates - These are templates taken from existing machines and enable you to create duplicate Virtual Computers (e.g. if you need several Windows 2000 Servers you build the first, template it and then use this template to create several more Virtual Windows 2000 Servers).
-
Operating System ISO Images - These are the images you can boot a fresh Virtual Computer from to build your system.
-
Built in remote control console - This enables you to operate your virtual machine remotely from either a console client or a web browser.
Each Virtual Computer then acts as if it was a normal computer and knows nothing about its real environment. To go into this Virtual Computer simply run the client console or use a web browser and you can control the virtual computer as if you were in front of the computer itself.
