• The Collax Web Security module is used as Web proxy. All Web requests from the local network are directed through the filter. The responses from the Internet are then screened for viruses and prohibited contents. Moreover, the proxy checks the protocol compliance of the transmission, thereby preventing attacks. The Collax Web Security module can easily be integrated in any network and offers optimum protection against dangers from the Web for all workstations.
   
• Rules and restrictions of the Web access can be defined in great detail. Access can be granted by time, groups, networks, and hosts with different permissions. In this way, it is possible to allow selected users to access blocked pages or to limit a Web page ban to working hours.
   
• The Web proxy can be run in three different modes: with or without authentication or as transparent Proxy.
   
• The filtering can take place by means of preinstalled blacklists in 13 categories and 1 million entries. The following categories are available: ads, adult, aggressive, audio video, drugs, gambling, hacking, mail, porn, proxy, violence, warez.
   
• The administrator can create lists with URLs or regular expressions. These can be used as whitelist or blacklist. Moreover, the download of certain file formats can be blocked.
   
• Optionally, virus protection can be implemented to protect the HTTP and FTP traffic against viruses, Trojan horses, and other malware.
   
• An anti-virus filter for basic protection prevents the transmission of harmful code.
   
• The HTTP protocol discloses a lot of unnecessary information. The anonymize function removes this information from requests.
   
• The cache for requested Web pages accelerates the loading of Web pages. The size can be determined freely.
   
• The Collax Web Security module supports the setup of parent proxies.
   
• The settings for the browser can be provided by way of an automatic configuration script (proxy.pac).
   
• Proxy exceptions can be set up for pages that should not be loaded via the Web proxy or without being filtered.
   
• The data transmitted over the Web proxy are analyzed in statistics.
