• To categorize a requested Web page, the Collax Surf Protection queries one of the largest URL databases and one of the largest image databases (> 1 billion images).
• The filtering takes place in 68 categories. Illegal or objectionable contents like drugs, violence, or pornography can be blocked entirely. Harmless categories, which however consume working time, such as shopping, travel, or news, can be blocked during working hours. Exceptions can be determined for selected users.
• Web pages are categorized on the basis of a content analysis that takes the text and image information on the page into consideration.
• The databases are updated on a daily basis. Every day, up to 150,000 new URLs are added to the database.
