The Collax Gatekeeper uses a new concept in Firewall administration that almost eliminates oversights and bad configuration: The Firewall Matrix.

The Firewall Matrix is an interactive graphical representation of all your firewall rules. In a single glance you can see the rules you have implemented and how they affect all your networks. Click the matrix and you can rebuild and change your rules.

At the heart of the Collax Gatekeeper is a, state-of-the-art, Stateful of Inspection engine. This technology not only offers high security but also outstanding performance that will ensure the protection of your company.

VPN: Secure communication

An important feature of the Collax Gatekeeper is that it enables secure communication with remote locations (e.g. branch offices, partnering companies or even remote workers). The Collax Gatekeeper uses the tried, tested and proven Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology for this.

Instead of using expensive dedicated lines, Frame Relays or switched lines the Collax Gatekeeper establishes highly secure VPN tunnels over the Internet. Once established both sites work as if they were on the same network, but all traffic passing between the sites is completely secure. This system is completely transparent to the end user and very economical for the organisation.

In addition remote/home workers can, with the Collax VPN Client, also establish authenticated IPsec based VPN tunnels with the Collax Gatekeeper. This then lets them use the company network as if they were in the office. The Collax VPN Client is fast to deploy, has a built in personal firewall, is easy to use and uses automatic client configuration features all built in.

Resilient Internet Connectivity

Today the Internet is a vital business resource for all companies and an always-up service is now expected/demanded. The Collax Gatekeeper lets you build in communication resilience in an affordable way.

The Collax Gatekeeper lets you setup primary and secondary connections to the Internet. For example use a DSL line as a primary link and then an ISDN or a cable modem as a secondary. If the primary was to then go down the secondary connection would be instigated instantly. During the failover state the Collax Gatekeeper will keep monitoring the primary link and then once it is back up switch back to this connection method. This ensures best performance, availability and economy at all times.
