Collax Server Update 7.2.14 - Security update and new OEM partner Bitdefender

08.11.2022

As a full-fledged replacement for Kaspersky’s anti-spam protection, we can now optionally offer Bitdefender’s anti-spam protection.

With this update, the module is available for subsequent installation.

Important: In the initial period, check the quarantine folder for spam. If legitimate emails are sorted out, you can fine-tune the values or exclude the senders from the spam whitelist.

Previously, mails that could not be filtered by the virus scanner could only be delivered to quarantine or with a warning in the subject. In addition to encrypted attachments, this also affects emails encrypted with PGP. The warning can be annoying or even confusing. With this update there is an option to deliver PGP mails unchanged.

In the overview of network groups there is a column that shows which services are allowed for the group. With this update it is now added that also the forbidden services are listed.

In the virus filter you can define attachment names that should not be delivered. If you had entered a file extension here, all attachments were also filtered, whose file extension began with the entered string. This prevented that e.g. .doc can be blocked, but .docx is allowed. With this update, only attachments that exactly match the string will be blocked, unless wildcards are used.

Previously, after calling Web Access or the administration interface, you were redirected to the IP address by DNS name. This resulted, for example, in the browser displaying a warning despite a valid certificate. Now the IP address is no longer redirected when calling.

Collax Central has got a new box. It now shows how many emails are in the mail queue.

With this update a number of security holes are closed. In detail, these are the encryption library OpenSSL, the script language PHP, the application server Apache Tomcat, the DNS server BIND, the compression tool gzip, the file synchronization rsync and the library for parsing XML files libexpat.

Further information and details can be found in the Release-Notes of each product.
